DHS raid in South Shore draws scrutiny | JQJO

A heavily armed Homeland Security raid at a troubled South Shore apartment building, showcased in a dramatic agency video, aimed at the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua but resulted in only two alleged gang arrests among 27 immigrants detained. Residents say dozens of U.S. citizens’ units were searched and at least a half-dozen Americans held for hours; doors were smashed and belongings strewn. Officials say the operation was part of "Operation Midway Blitz," citing months of intelligence and landlord reports, as Chicago leaders decry escalating tactics that have swept up more than 1,000 immigrants.
