Portland Police Chief Bob Day refutes President Trump's description of the city as a "war zone." Day stated that while the city experienced unrest in 2020-2021, crime and safety have significantly improved under his leadership. He emphasized that protests at the ICE facility are contained and manageable, rendering the National Guard unnecessary. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the deployment of National Guard troops, finding Trump's claims about Portland to be factually inaccurate. The White House, however, maintains the president's authority to deploy troops.
