Browns defensive end Jared Verse expressed anger after Steelers guard Mason McCormick threw him to the ground during a Sunday play. Verse said teammates did not react to the cheap shot, which he felt was a betrayal. He also criticized the lack of support following a similar incident involving Derek Barnett on a field‑goal attempt. Verse, the 2024 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, noted that the incident could have impacted his season and life. He acknowledged his own trash‑talk contributed but insisted teammates should have protected him when the situation escalated from verbal to physical.
