Starting October 12th, the European Union will implement a new Entry/Exit System requiring biometric data (fingerprints and photos) from non-EU citizens, including Americans, entering the Schengen Area. This system, gradually rolled out over six months, aims to enhance security by tracking arrivals and departures, preventing overstays. Refusal to comply results in denied entry. Children under 12 are exempt. Data will be stored for three to five years. The system will be used in 29 countries, excluding the UK, Ireland and Cyprus.
