The telescope's infrared instruments revealed unprecedented detail of gas, dust, and stars within the molecular cloud. While the images show vibrant star formation, some areas remain opaque even to Webb, hinting at future star births. Scientists will use the data to study star formation processes and address the puzzle of relatively low star formation in the galactic center.
