Mexican national, former DACA recipient dies in ICE custody after arrest in August

Ismael Ayala-Uribe, a 39-year-old former DACA recipient, died in ICE custody on Sunday. Arrested on August 17th, he was transferred to the Adelanto ICE Processing Center on August 22nd. While detained, he received medical attention for an abscess but later died after being declared unresponsive at a hospital. His death is under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Ayala-Uribe's family alleges inadequate medical care. This is the 14th death in ICE custody since President Trump took office and the first in a California ICE facility. His death follows reports of deteriorating conditions at the Adelanto facility.
