Trump Names Ally to Key Prosecutor Post | JQJO

President Trump nominated Lindsey Halligan as the new U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, replacing Erik Siebert, who resigned amid pressure to pursue charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James. Halligan, a longtime Trump associate, will oversee an office embroiled in controversy over politically motivated investigations. Trump publicly urged Attorney General Pam Bondi for faster action on various investigations, including one involving former FBI Director James Comey. The nomination follows the appointment of acting U.S. Attorney Mary Cleary.
