Israel's military claims control of 40% of Gaza City and plans a large-scale ground offensive to fully occupy it, aiming to retrieve hostages and dismantle Hamas rule. Around 60,000 reservists have been called up. The offensive has already leveled neighborhoods, displacing thousands and causing a humanitarian crisis. Despite international condemnation and warnings of famine, Israel intends to forcibly displace the remaining population southward, a plan deemed unfeasible by the ICRC. Hamas offered a hostage exchange, but Israel rejected it, intending to annex parts of Gaza.
