Hue takes on cheaper rivals with the entry-level Essential smart bulb lineup

Hue unveiled its largest product launch ever at IFA 2025, featuring a new budget-friendly Essential smart bulb line. These bulbs, priced under $20, compete with Govee and Aqara, offering A19 bulbs, GU10 spots, and strip lights with and without color options. While lacking some features of higher-end Hue bulbs (like full dimming and a wider color range), they still offer Bluetooth connectivity and Matter support. Hue also launched the powerful Hue Bridge Pro, boasting increased processing power and memory, along with a new Hue Motion Aware feature turning bulbs into motion sensors. New strip lighting options, including the hotspot-free OmniGlow and the versatile Flux line, were also introduced, alongside a daylight-replicating A19 bulb and a Sonos voice control integration.
