A new study reveals that consuming potassium-rich foods like bananas, broccoli, and spinach can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and death. Researchers found a 24% lower risk of heart-related illnesses in individuals with higher potassium levels. This is attributed to the body's improved ability to eliminate excess sodium. The study, presented at a major cardiology congress, involved 1200 patients and suggests that increasing potassium intake and reducing sodium could benefit everyone, not just those with heart conditions. A previous study also linked increased potassium intake to lower blood pressure.
