U.S. court finds most of Trump’s tariffs are illegal : NPR

A US appeals court ruled that most of President Trump's tariffs, imposed using emergency powers, are illegal. The court stated the 1970s-era law used doesn't grant the president such broad authority to levy tariffs. This decision, a 7-4 split, doesn't affect tariffs authorized under different laws. While the ruling is delayed until mid-October pending a Supreme Court appeal, it's a significant blow to Trump's trade policy, which has been criticized for harming US businesses and consumers.
