95-year-old Ahn Hak-sop, a North Korean POW, attempted to return to the North to die. After decades in South Korea, he felt he didn't belong and wished to be buried in his homeland. Despite his failing health and being turned away at the border, he journeyed as close as possible, carrying a North Korean flag. His unwavering belief in North Korean propaganda, fueled by his experiences during the Korean War and Japanese occupation, shaped his life and this final act. He viewed South Korea's alliance with the US as a continuation of colonial rule, preventing reunification.
