Paleontologists Discover Weird ‘Pokémon’ Ancestor of Modern Whales

Australian researchers have named a newly discovered prehistoric whale species, *Janjucetus dullardi*. This 25-million-year-old creature, about ten feet long, possessed unusual features including large eyes, sharp teeth, and potentially tiny leg stumps. The partial skull fossil was found in 2019 by amateur fossil hunter Ross Dullard, who inspired the species' name. Dullard, a school principal, plans a celebratory fossil party.
