Russia’s rocket-powered kamikaze drones are now hitting Kyiv - here's everything we know

A massive drone attack on Kyiv on July 31st resulted in at least 11 deaths and 135 injuries. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported the use of rocket-powered Shahed-type drones, a weapon Russia has been rapidly upgrading. These drones, capable of carrying large warheads and covering long distances, pose a significant challenge to Ukraine's air defenses, which are already stretched thin. Ukraine is developing interceptor drones to counter this threat, but the faster, more advanced Russian drones are outpacing defensive upgrades. Kyiv has appealed for increased international support to bolster its air defenses.
