Mass rape, forced pregnancy and sexual torture in Tigray amount to crimes against humanity - report

A new report by Physicians for Human Rights and the Organization for Justice and Accountability in the Horn of Africa details widespread sexual violence in Tigray, Ethiopia. Over 500 medical records and interviews with 600 health workers document mass rape, sexual slavery, forced pregnancy, and torture by Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers. The attacks, described as systematic and amounting to crimes against humanity, targeted women and children, including infants. The report calls for international investigation and accountability for these atrocities, which continue despite a 2022 ceasefire.
