Tesla signs $16.5B deal with Samsung to make AI chips

Tesla has inked a massive $16.5 billion deal with Samsung to produce its next-generation AI6 chips. These chips will power Tesla's Full Self-Driving system, Optimus robots, and AI data centers. The deal is a significant win for Samsung and represents a key component of Tesla's broader AI and robotics strategy. Elon Musk indicated the actual spending could significantly exceed the initial figure and that Tesla will collaborate with Samsung to optimize manufacturing efficiency. This follows Tesla's prior use of Samsung for AI4 chips and its current partnership with TSMC for AI5 chips.
