The historic Grand Canyon Lodge at the North Rim, the only lodging within the park's North Rim, was destroyed by the Dragon Bravo wildfire. The fire, initially thought containable, spread rapidly due to strong winds after a lightning strike on July 4th. The lodge, cherished by locals and tourists for its stunning views and spiritual atmosphere, was previously destroyed by fire in 1932 and rebuilt in 1938. The loss is devastating to the community, with many expressing heartbreak and hope for its eventual reconstruction. The fire also consumed surrounding nature, including centuries-old trees.
