Israel-Iran war: Iran’s Supreme Leader makes first public statement since ceasefire was declared

Following a 12-day war with Israel, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed Iran struck a U.S. base in Qatar, calling it a 'slap to America’s face.' He downplayed the impact of recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, while the UN nuclear watchdog confirmed significant damage. Khamenei warned against further U.S. attacks, asserting Iran's retaliatory capabilities. A ceasefire is in effect, and Iran is gradually resuming normal life, including partially reopening its airspace. Casualty figures vary, with thousands reported dead and wounded on both sides. Future U.S.-Iran talks remain uncertain.
