Japan says China will lift ban on Japanese seafood imports

Japan and China have reached an agreement to resume Japanese seafood imports, which were banned by China in 2023 following Japan's release of treated wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear plant. The agreement, reached after several rounds of talks, will see imports resume once paperwork is completed. While this is a significant step, China's ban on products from 10 Japanese prefectures remains. The resumption is a major milestone for Japan's seafood export industry, previously heavily reliant on the Chinese market. However, concerns about the wastewater's impact persist in some quarters.
