President Trump says Nippon Steel and US Steel to enter into ‘partnership’

President Trump announced a $14 billion partnership between U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel, projected to create 70,000 jobs. Trump, who previously opposed a full acquisition, will visit the steel plant next week for a rally. The deal, initially blocked by President Biden, faced bipartisan opposition due to concerns about foreign control of a key American industry. While US Steel hailed the partnership, the United Steel Workers union expressed continued concerns. Pennsylvania's governor and a Republican senator praised the deal, while a Democratic senator criticized it. US Steel stock surged 21% following the announcement.
