Ukraine and Russia exchange 780 soldiers and civilians in biggest swap

Ukraine and Russia engaged in their largest prisoner exchange since the 2022 invasion, releasing 390 soldiers and civilians each. The swap, agreed upon in Istanbul, involved 270 servicemen and 120 civilians from both sides near the Belarusian border. While smaller exchanges have occurred, this marks the largest involving civilians. Ukrainian President Zelensky confirmed the release, emphasizing verification of each individual. Families anxiously awaited the return of loved ones in northern Ukraine. The Russian defense ministry stated those released were being sent to Russia for medical care.
