Ex-classmate remembers Pope Leo XIV as 'man of integrity'

Fr. Anthony Pizzo, Prior of the Midwest Augustinians, shared his decades-long friendship with Pope Leo XIV (Robert Prevost). Pizzo described the Pope as a man of integrity, balance, and deep commitment to the Church, emphasizing his respectful listening skills and Gospel-centered decision-making. They met in 1974 during religious formation. Pizzo highlighted Prevost's humility and focus on serving the Church, reflecting the Augustinian charism and Leo XIII's legacy of social justice. The Chicago Province, with its 55 friars, maintains a distinct culture while upholding Augustinian unity.
