Pandemic's Impact on Cancer Statistics Minimal, Study Shows

Read, Watch or Listen

A new report reveals that despite COVID-19 related delays in cancer screenings in 2020, cancer death rates continued their decline, and late-stage diagnoses largely returned to pre-pandemic levels by 2021. While a slight increase in late-stage diagnoses of cervical and prostate cancer occurred in 2021, it wasn't significant. The study, encompassing data through 2021, suggests the pandemic's impact on cancer statistics is less severe than initially feared, though longer-term effects remain to be seen.
