Android Auto-Reboots Locked Phones for Enhanced Security

Read, Watch or Listen

Android is rolling out a new security feature that automatically reboots devices left locked for 72 hours. This update, part of Google Play services 25.14, aims to enhance data security by encrypting files and disabling biometric logins until the passcode is entered. The feature, mirroring a similar Apple iOS function, applies to Android phones and tablets but excludes other device types. The rollout timeframe and device compatibility remain unclear, but a notification upon reboot is unlikely.
