Denver. On Monday night in Game 2 of the NBA first-round series, the Minnesota Timberwolves rallied from a 19-point deficit to defeat the Denver Nuggets 119-114; forward Jaden McDaniels, who scored 14 points and had three assists, said the Nuggets were 'all bad defenders,' naming Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray among those he listed.

Minneapolis. The victory evened the series 1-1 and sends the teams to Minnesota for Game 3 on Thursday; Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 30 points and 10 rebounds, while Denver's Nikola Jokic had 24 points and 15 rebounds and Jamal Murray 30. Denver's late scoring slump and McDaniels' comments frame tactical questions for the upcoming matchup.

Denver. The U.S. government opened an online portal to accept refund requests for more than $160 billion in tariffs collected last year, allowing businesses to declare amounts paid and seek repayment. Local small businesses say the portal addresses a major uncertainty, but they face questions about timing, whether and how refunds will reach them, and who will file claims when they were not the importer of record.

Denver retailer Aktiv, run by Nate Axvig and his wife, imports Scandinavian clothing and said tariffs spiked about 30 percent after the Trump administration's actions, adding roughly $25,000 in extra costs that were passed on to customers. Axvig said he paid tariffs through major shippers such as DHL, FedEx and UPS, which must apply for refunds and are developing their own portals; shippers have told him the process could take 60 to 90 days, and he urged shoppers to support local businesses while they wait.

SALT LAKE CITY — Alan Osmond, the eldest performing member of the Osmond Brothers, died this week; family spokespersons told local outlets his wife, Suzanne, and all eight of their sons were at his bedside in Orem. He rose to national prominence after appearing on The Andy Williams Show in 1962.

The family confirmed his death to multiple Utah outlets on Monday, noting his retirement followed a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in the late 1980s; reports list his birth as June 22, 1949, and say he helped lead the group's 1970s success with Top 40 hits. Media and fans have issued tributes this week, and funeral arrangements were said to be pending.

WASHINGTON, U.S.: Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigned on April 20 amid an inspector general investigation into allegations of professional misconduct, according to administration announcements and media reports. White House communications director Steven Cheung said she will leave to take a private-sector position, and Deputy Secretary Keith Sonderling will serve as acting secretary.

WASHINGTON: The Labor Department inspector general is reportedly nearing the end of a months-long probe that began after a whistleblower complaint; outlets cite allegations including an alleged affair with a security team member and use of department resources for personal trips. Chavez-DeRemer called her service an honor on X; the administration framed the departure as a personnel change.

Spokane will host Egypt's national soccer team at Gonzaga University this spring, with Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah among players scheduled to practice on campus ahead of FIFA World Cup group matches in Seattle and Vancouver. City council agenda documents and local reporting this month first noted the team's planned arrival and initial facility preparations at Gonzaga's soccer field.

This week the Spokane City Council moved to bolster security measures, approving the purchase of four Skydio X10 drones and mitigation barriers, with the equipment request tied to more than $250,000 and a potential FIFA grant to cover costs; the Egyptian squad is scheduled to play group matches on June 15 and June 26, and local preparations will continue in the coming weeks.

Boston's Red Sox also saw starter Sonny Gray exit Monday's game with right hamstring tightness, and Garrett Whitlock earned the win while Aroldis Chapman recorded the save; on Tuesday Luis Gil earned his first win, allowing two hits, and the Red Sox were held scoreless with noted offensive struggles through this stretch of the season.

Washington—Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s nominee for Federal Reserve chair, testified before the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday as senators examined his financial disclosures, views on interest rates, and plans for Fed reforms. Warsh, a former Fed official, disclosed more than $100 million in assets and pledged to divest and cease advisory work if confirmed.

The hearing comes as U.S. inflation rose—consumer prices increased 3.3% in March—and amid oil-price pressures tied to the Iran conflict, which complicate calls for rate cuts. Lawmakers pressed Warsh on Fed independence, and committee members will decide whether to recommend confirmation ahead of Jerome Powell’s term expiration on May 15, shaping the next steps.

WASHINGTON — Apple said Monday that John Ternus, the company’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, will succeed Tim Cook as CEO on Sept. 1. Cook will assume the role of executive chairman. Ternus will join Apple’s board when he becomes chief and will be the company’s eighth CEO. Arthur Levinson, the company’s non-executive chairman, will become the lead independent director the same day. Cook will continue as CEO through the summer to work closely with Ternus on a smooth transition.

This marks the first CEO transition at Apple since Cook succeeded the late Steve Jobs in 2011. Cook said, "It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be the CEO of Apple and to have been trusted to lead such an extraordinary company," and reflected on his gratitude for Apple teams. During his almost 15-year tenure, he oversaw the company’s expansion into wearable technology, including the Apple Watch, AirPods and the Vision Pro. Ternus has worked at Apple for about half his life, joining four years after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, and has overseen the hardware engineering teams for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods and Vision Pro.
