Billionaire John Castimatidis, CEO of WABC Radio and Red Apple Media, urged Republican New York City mayoral hopeful Curtis Sliwa to quit, warning his candidacy could split the vote; he called for consolidating support behind a 'viable alternative' to avoid a damaging outcome. Sliwa refused: 'I trust the people… I will not drop out.' Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, appearing amused, said he and Sliwa agree that billionaires shouldn’t control the city’s future, and added that independent candidate Andrew Cuomo is pleading with Donald Trump and billionaire donors to clear a path for his return.

Amid a 1-6 start, Miami is staying with head coach Mike McDaniel, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Good Morning Football. Calls for change intensified after a 31-6 loss to the Browns and other high-profile defeats, while Tua Tagovailoa briefly criticized teammates for tardiness before walking it back. Rapoport said owner Stephen Ross backs McDaniel and a shift would only come if fans stop showing up or players quit on him. McDaniel accepted responsibility, vowed a full evaluation, and the Dolphins aim to regroup this week at the Falcons.

Federal safety regulators are investigating Waymo after video showed a robotaxi maneuvering around a stopped school bus with flashing red lights in Atlanta while children were unloading. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Defects Investigation will examine how Waymo’s software handles stopped school buses and said similar prior incidents are likely. Waymo said the bus partly blocked the driveway, preventing the vehicle from seeing the lights or stop sign, and cited its safety record. The company has rolled out software updates and continues expanding service in new cities.

Two days before publication, the BBC obtained Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, a 367-page account that lays out appalling details of abuse by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, and renewed allegations against Prince Andrew—claims he has repeatedly denied. Giuffre writes she had sex with him three times, including what she calls an “orgy” on Epstein’s island, and recounts medical distress afterward. The book describes sadomasochistic sessions, fear, and physical decline, as well as Maxwell’s role in recruiting her and arranging their meeting. Giuffre voices disappointment at Epstein’s death and a hope for accountability.

Notables include Bears RB Kyle Monangai amid a new committee, Chargers TE Oronde Gadsden after a 164-yard outburst, and Bears rookie TE Colston Loveland stepping in after Cole Kmet’s back injury.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left a 44-22 loss to the Cowboys with a hamstring injury, drawing a plea from his mother, Regina Jackson, for fans to stop 'manifesting RGIII' comparisons. Daniels, who recently returned from a left knee injury, was hurt on a third-quarter strip-sack by Jadeveon Clowney, ruled out, and will have an MRI Monday, coach Dan Quinn said. Robert Griffin III replied on X that he supports Daniels and knows the D.C. spotlight. Before exiting, Daniels threw for 156 yards with one touchdown and ran for another.

Trump weighed volatile fronts, backing a brief chance for the Israel-Hamas ceasefire while warning Hamas of swift consequences and ruling out U.S. boots. He urged Kyiv and Moscow to “stop where they are,” after meeting Zelenskyy, as U.S. and Russian envoys coordinated talks and Washington prepared for a Xi summit. At home, a Chicago court pressed officials over an immigration sweep as a judge ordered body cameras, and shutdown fallout deepened with NNSA furloughs. The U.S. and Australia touted a critical minerals deal, Colombia recalled its ambassador amid a war of words, and the Supreme Court took up guns-and-marijuana.

Antenna says Disney+ and Hulu churn jumped in September, coinciding with Jimmy Kimmel’s brief ABC suspension. Monthly cancellations rose from 4% to 8% at Disney+ and 5% to 10% at Hulu, a break from typically steady rates; Netflix stayed near 2%. A Disney source cautioned the figures may be inflated, muddle plan changes, and that many cancellations quickly reversed. Kimmel was pulled after a Sept. 15 remark went viral, then returned after less than a week, as social media urged Disney+ cancellations and his show’s ratings soared.
