The White House dismissed a TMZ report claiming Donald Trump could move to free Sean 'Diddy' Combs this week, calling it 'fake news' and stressing that the president alone decides pardons and commutations. Combs, 55, is serving a 50-month sentence for transportation for the purposes of prostitution after acquittal on more serious counts. His lawyers filed a notice signaling an appeal and requested placement at a low-security facility. He remains at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, credited with 13 months served, as any transfer may be delayed amid a federal shutdown.

Australia’s space agency is investigating a charred, smoldering object found on a remote road in Western Australia’s Pilbara, confirming it is suspected space debris. Officials say it is likely a propellant tank or pressure vessel from a launch vehicle and are working with local authorities and other agencies to determine its origin; size and weight were not disclosed. Sky News reported mine workers discovered it Saturday and that local authorities saw no threat to public safety, a detail NBC News has not independently verified. The discovery comes amid growing worries about space junk as launches increase.

Widely shared video shows federal immigration agents forcing their way into Gloria Magaña’s Portland home on Oct. 15, searching for “Israel” and, without presenting a warrant, according to Magaña, breaking into a room as a three-month-old cried. Officials later acknowledged they were seeking someone else with a criminal history, yet detained Magaña’s son and partner for being in the U.S. illegally; records show no criminal charges. As “No Kings” protesters rallied, agents used tear gas outside a local ICE facility. An ICE leader defended the tactics, and an appeals court allowed the Trump administration to deploy National Guard protection.

Periodic Labs, founded by OpenAI’s Liam Fedus and former Google Brain researcher Ekin Dogus Cubuk, emerged from stealth with a $300 million seed round led by Felicis. The startup aims to fuse simulations, LLM reasoning and, soon, robotic powder-synthesis to accelerate materials discovery, starting with superconductors. OpenAI is not an investor. The team has set up a lab, begun working with experimental data, and hired noted talent, while robots still await training. Additional backers include Andreessen Horowitz, DST, NVentures, Accel, and angels Jeff Bezos, Elad Gil, Eric Schmidt and Jeff Dean.

John Stamos praised his former Full House co-star Lori Loughlin in a new podcast, lauding her character while calling her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, a 'narcissist' and 'a--hole.' Loughlin and Giannulli reportedly separated this month after 28 years. Stamos recalled checking on her during the Operation Varsity Blues fallout—both served time—and said she 'didn't deserve to be dragged through that.' He called after her release; she said she met 'nice ladies' and had a book club in prison. The Daily Beast sought comment from Giannulli. Stamos and Loughlin, who played Jesse and Rebecca, described offscreen chemistry.

In his first game since Week 3, Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans exited early after laying out for a deep Baker Mayfield pass with five minutes left in the first half. Evans appeared briefly unconscious after his head and shoulder hit the ground and looked woozy as trainers helped him off. He was carted from the sideline and quickly ruled out with a concussion and right shoulder injury. Before leaving, Evans had no receptions on four targets but did draw a 23-yard pass interference flag on Rock Ya-Sin.

On Monday Night Football, the Bucs have wideouts Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka active, with Egbuka leading Tampa Bay at 27 catches for 469 yards and five touchdowns. Evans returns after three games out with a hamstring; Egbuka was sidelined for the second half of Week 6. Chris Godwin (fibula), Bucky Irving and right guard Luke Haggard are among Tampa Bay’s inactives. Cornerbacks Zyon McCollum and Benjamin Morrison also return. The Lions arrive short-handed, missing starters Terrion Arnold, Avonte Maddox and All-Pro Kerby Joseph, while safety Brian Branch serves a one-game suspension.

Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin said old Reddit posts by Maine U.S. Senate hopeful Graham Platner were offensive but not disqualifying, after reports surfaced of comments appearing to endorse political violence, dismiss rape in the military, and deride police and rural America. Platner apologized, citing post-Army struggles with PTSD and depression, and later highlighted posts urging veterans to seek help and criticizing misogyny and homophobia in the military. The uproar drew rebukes from Sen. Susan Collins' campaign and led his political director to resign, even as some Democrats continue to support him and Bernie Sanders backs his bid.

Prince Andrew’s decision to stop using titles including Duke of York has intensified pressure on Buckingham Palace and the government to go further, with critics urging removal of his princely status and even eviction from his Windsor home. The move followed emails suggesting he stayed in contact with Jeffrey Epstein longer than admitted and comes days before Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s memoir alleging encounters with Andrew. Opposition lawmakers want Parliament to strip his dukedom, while ministers say such matters rest with the royal family. Police are reviewing claims Andrew sought to smear Giuffre in 2011.

President Donald Trump, hosting Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House, predicted a “fantastic” trade deal with China and said Beijing now shows the U.S. “great respect” after his tariff threats. He vowed to add a 100% tariff on Nov. 1 if no agreement emerges with President Xi Jinping at the upcoming APEC summit, even as he called such a levy “not sustainable.” Beijing pushed back on the tariff rhetoric and removed its top trade negotiator, ousting Li Chenggang. Trump also downplayed fears over Taiwan, citing U.S. military superiority.
