Secretary of State Marco Rubio toured a new Civil-Military Coordination Center in Kiryat Gat, saying more diplomats will join U.S. officers to monitor Gaza’s fragile cease-fire as the Trump administration presses Israel to honor the deal. The State Department named Steven Fagin as lead civilian at the site. Admiral Brad Cooper said 200 U.S. troops are building the center, with partners and NGOs to assist; no troops will enter Gaza. Officials, including Vice President JD Vance, signaled support, while Rubio floated a possible U.N.-mandated peacekeeping force and pushed back against West Bank annexation moves.

Dinosaurs may not have been fading before the asteroid struck 66 million years ago, according to a study of New Mexico’s Kirtland Formation. Researchers dated rocks and fossils to roughly 400,000 years before impact using volcanic glass grains and magnetic minerals, revealing a diverse community including T. rex, a Triceratops-like herbivore, and the colossal Alamosaurus. Differences from same-age fossils in Montana suggest thriving, distinct ecosystems. The findings, published in Science, hint at resilience but, experts warn, reflect a single site and not the full global picture.

China announced a new holiday, the Commemoration Day of Taiwan’s Restoration, to be observed on Oct. 25, marking the 1945 handover of Taiwan, then a Japanese colony, to an official of the then–Republic of China. The National People’s Congress Standing Committee said the observance supports China’s claims; Shen Chunyao told state broadcaster CCTV it highlights that Taiwan is an “inalienable part of China.” Taiwan already marks Oct. 25 as Retrocession Day. The Kuomintang, which fled to the island in 1949 after losing the civil war to the Communists, later ruled Taiwan and remains one of its two major parties.

A dashcam video captured a red tractor-trailer barreling into at least eight vehicles on the westbound 10 Freeway in California shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, killing three people and injuring four, authorities said. The driver, 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh, was arrested on vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI charges and is being held without bail. DHS said Singh, from India, entered the U.S. in 2022 and was released under the Biden administration. Two victims were identified as Clarence Nelson and his wife, Lisa, KTLA reported. ICE later issued an arrest detainer.

Inflation cooled slightly in September, with consumer prices up 3.0% year over year and 0.3% on the month, undershooting forecasts, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. The release arrived nine days late due to the government shutdown, which has sidelined most economic reports and left the Federal Reserve missing key data. Even so, the softer figures strengthen expectations for another quarter-point rate cut later this month. The report—released by recalled BLS staff—also set Social Security’s cost-of-living increase: benefits will rise 2.8% next year, about $56 a month.

Separate bear attacks in Japan on Friday left one person dead and four injured, authorities said, underscoring a record year that had already claimed nine lives before Friday. In Akita’s mountains, a mauling involving four people killed one and sent three to hospital; two had been farming, and two were hurt rushing to help. A local hunter reportedly killed a nearby bear as police probed whether it was responsible. In Toyama, a woman in her 70s was also hurt. Japan’s new environment minister vowed tougher measures, including training government hunters and managing populations.

The Post’s baseball panel leans hard toward the Dodgers in the Blue Jays–Dodgers World Series, opening Friday in Toronto. Five of six pick Los Angeles, pointing to a four-deep, superior rotation, star power, and questions about Toronto’s pitching depth against the Dodgers’ long lineup. Predictions range from a sweep to seven games. One dissenting pick takes the Blue Jays in seven, citing the possibility of a Game 7 home-field advantage in Toronto and calling for an upset.

The Gaza cease-fire hinged on an exchange: Hamas freed all living hostages in Gaza and agreed to return remains of former captives, while Israel released 1,968 Palestinians. Of those, 250 were convicted in violent attacks; most—1,718 Gazans—were detained during war, many without charges and labeled 'unlawful combatants.' Rights groups and the U.N. cite secret, degrading detention; the Palestinian Prisoners Society reports at least 78 deaths. Israel says prisoners are treated according to international standards and denies systematic abuse. Among the released were medical workers; Dr. Ahmed Muhanna was freed, while Dr. Adnan Ahmad Albursh died in custody.

Wall Street futures rose early Friday after a delayed inflation report showed prices climbed less than feared, bolstering expectations for a Federal Reserve rate cut next week. The 10-year Treasury yield slipped to 3.97% from 4.01%. Consumer prices rose 3% year over year in September, with core inflation also at 3%, and the release was delayed by a government shutdown. Oil advanced, while gold fell. Intel jumped after topping profit estimates, and Ford rallied on record revenue. Asian markets mostly gained on confirmation of a Trump–Xi meeting; Europe traded mixed.

With Parkinson’s cases projected to reach 25 million by 2050, experts told Fox News Digital that healthy habits can help reduce risk and slow onset, though the disease can’t be prevented. Regular aerobic exercise—linked to a 50% lower risk—and resistance training are emphasized. They also cite antioxidant-rich, Mediterranean-style eating, limiting toxins, prioritizing quality sleep, managing stress, staying mentally and socially active, and avoiding smoking and heavy alcohol. The guidance is low-risk, not a guarantee, and early medical evaluation is urged for motor changes, loss of smell, REM sleep behavior disorder, or persistent constipation.
