Seeking to speed deportations, the Trump administration plans to reassign at least a dozen ICE field office directors—potentially replacing about half with Border Patrol officials—amid frustration over arrest totals, officials say. ICE averages 1,178 arrests daily, far short of the 3,000 pushed by Stephen Miller. Border Patrol has deployed more than 1,500 agents and used tactics like Black Hawk rappels in Chicago, prompting lawsuits. Greg Bovino, who has overseen recent operations, is due before a federal judge Tuesday over alleged excessive force. DHS declined comment; the White House said the team is acting in lockstep.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent named five contenders to replace Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve chair next year—Christopher Waller, Michelle Bowman, Kevin Warsh, Kevin Hassett, and BlackRock's Rick Rieder. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Bessent said he’ll deliver a slate to President Donald Trump after Thanksgiving; Trump aims to decide by year’s end. Bessent has sharply criticized the Fed’s crisis-era policies, signaling potential shifts ahead. Trump renewed attacks on Powell over interest rates as the Fed eyes another cut, while legal and political fights over board seats test the central bank’s independence.

The USS Gravely arrived in Trinidad for joint naval exercises, drawing a sharp rebuke from Venezuela, which called the move a provocation. Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said she would ask President Nicolas Maduro to withdraw from a 2015 cross-border gas exploration agreement. Trinidad's government said U.S. drills are routine, and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has backed strikes on alleged drug vessels, saying traffickers should be "blown to pieces." The Trump administration has expanded military operations in the Caribbean, announcing new deployments and reporting 10 vessel strikes since September, with at least 43 people killed.

Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder after playing two games in a bulky harness. He initially hurt his non-throwing shoulder in Week 5 against the Browns in London and stayed on the injury report, practicing fully in five of six sessions. Ian Rapoport reports he dislocated the shoulder, tore the labrum, and fractured the socket during that game. Over the past two games, Wentz completed 59.4% of his passes for 457 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions, and the Vikings went 0-2.

A San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy, Andrew Nunez, was fatally shot Monday while answering a call about an armed man threatening a woman in Rancho Cucamonga. The suspect fled on a motorcycle and, during a high‑speed chase on the 210 Freeway in Upland, was deliberately struck by an off‑duty deputy, crashing into a sedan. The unidentified suspect is in stable condition. District Attorney Jason Anderson said charges, including murder of a police officer and domestic violence, could be filed within two days. Sheriff Shannon Dicus pledged justice and support for Nunez’s family, including his 2‑year‑old daughter and pregnant wife.

Porsche’s 2026 911 Turbo S deploys twin, motor-assisted turbos that spool almost instantly, channeling energy back to a 1.9 kWh battery and an electric motor in the PDK. The setup delivers 701 hp and 590 lb-ft to all four wheels, rocketing to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds with brutal launch control yet crisp everyday response. Wider rear Pirellis and a new active suspension balance comfort and aggression. Prices start at $270,300 ($284,300 Cabriolet) plus $2,350, a $40,000 jump, for Porsche’s most powerful 911 yet.

Aboard Air Force One, President Donald Trump said a cognitive screening he took at Walter Reed was “very hard,” even as he mocked Democratic congresswomen Jasmine Crockett and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “low IQ.” His physician said in April that Trump scored a perfect 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which screens for dementia and includes tasks like identifying animals, drawing a clock, and subtracting by seven. Trump said early questions were easy but later ones tougher. It’s unclear if he repeated the test during a visit earlier this month; a brief medical summary called his health exceptional.

King Charles III dedicated Britain’s first national memorial to LGBTQ troops at the National Memorial Arboretum, 25 years after the U.K. ended its ban on homosexuality in the armed forces. The crumpled bronze letter bears words from personnel affected by the ban, which saw dismissals between 1967 and 2000. The ban was lifted after a 1999 European Court of Human Rights ruling; in 2023 Rishi Sunak apologized and set compensation up to £70,000. Veterans and serving members attended, with moving tributes. Later in Lichfield, a heckler questioned him about Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein; he did not respond.

The Trump administration says it has delivered seven classified briefings on U.S. strikes against alleged drug boats since early September, covering congressional leaders and committees, but lawmakers say crucial answers are still missing. A Democratic Senate aide called the tally misleading; a GOP House aide said his panel received three briefings. Sen. Mark Kelly said evidence didn’t support all administration claims or legal rationale. House Armed Services’ Adam Smith reported no answers and urged a hearing, complicated by the House schedule. Sen. Lindsey Graham said land strikes are possible and promised Congress would be briefed on potential operations.

Chicago residents accused U.S. Border Patrol of interrupting a children’s Halloween parade in Old Irving Park, alleging agents used tear gas and aggressive tactics during an immigration raid. Verified video shows tear gas and several arrests, including U.S. citizens. DHS officials say agents faced a hostile crowd, issued warnings, and arrested two citizens and a “criminal illegal alien from Mexico.” Amid mounting clashes, Judge Sara Ellis—who has limited agents’ tactics and ordered body cameras—has summoned commander Greg Bovino to court over alleged unjustified tear-gas use, as city lawyers challenge the operation and plaintiffs claim federal violations.
