Hamas denounced a leaked US video as a “baseless cover up,” after CENTCOM said it shows suspected Hamas operatives looting an aid truck in a humanitarian convoy delivering assistance to Gazans. An image from the report shows armed men securing trucks loaded with aid as they enter Gaza through the Kerem Shalom Crossing in Khan Yunis on September 19, 2025. The report is by Jerusalem Post Staff.

Steven Palmer, a 27-year FBI veteran who led the critical incident response group, was fired after Director Kash Patel grew furious over press coverage of his use of an FBI jet to see his girlfriend sing the national anthem at a wrestling event, Bloomberg Law reported. Palmer is the third leader of the unit dismissed under Patel since February. Flight logs showed Patel’s plane near Penn State on Oct. 25 and later in Nashville before tracking was blocked. Patel has not commented; his spokesman defended the travel. Separately, a Michigan defense lawyer called Patel’s Halloween plot claims “hysteria and fearmongering.”

On a rare visit to South Korea, Xi Jinping urged deeper cooperation and resistance to American-led trade curbs as he met President Lee Jae Myung at the APEC summit in Gyeongju. The week laid bare Seoul’s uneasy straddle between its top trading partner and security ally: President Trump surprised officials by allowing South Korea to build nuclear-powered submarines, paired with a trade deal and a $350 billion investment pledge that secured lower U.S. tariffs. Experts said the old equilibrium is over. Seoul still courts Beijing’s help on North Korea, even as China warned against moves unsettling regional stability.

After repeated forgetful grocery runs, the writer tested tools to fix meal planning. A Better Meal's photo and web recipe imports and stepwise cook along impressed but its subscription and discovery focus were a turnoff. Papier's handsome planner proved cramped. Paprika's one time fee, iOS and Android support, and flexible list building, plus a saved "The Regulars" recipe, clicked when paired with a smartwatch to quickly check off items. Without Wear OS support, Google Keep bridged the gap on Android. The hybrid system sped trips and kept lists intact.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited Hanoi, reaffirming a partnership rooted in addressing Vietnam War legacies and marking 30 years of diplomatic ties. After talks with Defense Minister Phan Van Giang, he returned wartime artifacts, a leather box, a belt and a small knife, as both sides continue clearing unexploded ordnance, recovering remains and cleaning dioxin. The trip followed ASEAN meetings in Kuala Lumpur and comes as funding resumes for some projects. A researcher said visible recommitment could open space for deeper defense ties, while Vietnam hedges with outreach to North Korea and possible Su-35 purchases.

Steven Palmer, a 27-year FBI veteran and deputy assistant director of the Critical Incident Response Group, was fired Friday, Bloomberg reported, days after stories alleged Kash Patel used an FBI jet for a date. Bloomberg sources said Palmer was told to resign or be terminated, at least partly tied to negative Patel coverage, and were baffled he was blamed since flight logs are public. Public data showed a flight to Penn State and Nashville; a now-deleted Instagram post placed Patel there. Assistant Director for Public Affairs Ben Williamson defended leadership as multiple CIRG chiefs have been pushed out.

Americans report rising concern about a lingering shutdown and its toll on the economy, with a big majority saying Congress isn’t even trying to end it, a CBS News/YouGov poll finds. Worry is rising, especially among lower‑income respondents, and most disapprove of how congressional Democrats, Republicans and President Trump are handling it. Prices are widely seen as still climbing and few expect relief soon. Mr. Trump’s approval has slipped a point to the low 40s, though he draws relatively better marks on immigration and the Israel‑Hamas conflict. The survey interviewed 2,124 adults Oct. 29–31, 2025.

ESPN fantasy football expert Eric Moody will field start/sit and roster questions in a live chat each Sunday of the NFL regular season, with the Week 9 session running from noon to 1 p.m. ET as eight early games near kickoff. Fans can ask about injury updates, flex choices and trade ideas, and tap resources like the Sunday inactives file, Week 9 Rankings and Mike Clay’s Playbook. Not every submission is posted; moderators curate to avoid repeats, and thousands of questions during the hour mean many won’t be answered.

A CBS News/YouGov survey finds Americans split over the Trump administration’s deportation program, with strong backing from Republicans and MAGA Republicans and less support among others. Approval, once higher earlier in President Trump’s term, has leveled since mid-summer and ticked up slightly from last month. Support hinges on whom people believe is targeted: backing rises when respondents think criminals are prioritized. Slightly more than half say ICE is too tough, and most oppose officers wearing masks. Many also believe Trump’s policies are reducing border crossings. The nationally representative survey of 2,124 adults ran October 29-31, 2025.

India launched CMS-03, also known as GSAT-7R, on an LVM3 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, lifting off early Sunday at 6:56 a.m. EST. About 16 minutes later, the 4,400-kilogram craft reached geostationary transfer orbit, the heaviest communications satellite ever sent to GTO from Indian soil, ISRO said. CMS-03 will drift to geostationary orbit to serve as a key link for the Indian Navy, succeeding GSAT-7. With upgraded multi-band payloads, it is designed for real-time naval operations, air defence and strategic command. The mission marked LVM3’s eighth flight.
