Americans report rising concern about a lingering shutdown and its toll on the economy, with a big majority saying Congress isn’t even trying to end it, a CBS News/YouGov poll finds. Worry is rising, especially among lower‑income respondents, and most disapprove of how congressional Democrats, Republicans and President Trump are handling it. Prices are widely seen as still climbing and few expect relief soon. Mr. Trump’s approval has slipped a point to the low 40s, though he draws relatively better marks on immigration and the Israel‑Hamas conflict. The survey interviewed 2,124 adults Oct. 29–31, 2025.
