Thunder outlast Rockets in double-overtime opener

After 58 breathless minutes, the Oklahoma City Thunder edged the new-look Houston Rockets, 125-124 in double overtime, on two late Shai Gilgeous-Alexander free throws. Gilgeous-Alexander shook off a slow start to post 35 points, five rebounds and five assists; Chet Holmgren added 28 before fouling out, and Cason Wallace stuffed the box score. Alperen Sengun powered Houston with 39-11-7, while Kevin Durant had 23 and nine in his Rockets debut before fouling out; Amen Thompson left with an apparent leg injury. Despite 25% 3-point shooting, OKC survived Houston’s 16 offensive boards and 24 second-chance points.
