RSF attack kills 53 at Darfur shelter

At least 53 people were killed when Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces shelled and used drones to strike a shelter for displaced families in besieged el-Fasher, the Sudan Doctors’ Network said Saturday. The late-Friday attack on al-Arqam Home, located at Omdurman Islamic University, also wounded 21, many seriously; the dead included at least 14 children and 15 women. A rights group condemned the assault as a massacre, while the RSF did not immediately comment. El-Fasher, the military’s last Darfur stronghold, remains blockaded, with 260,000 civilians trapped amid hunger and disease, the U.N. warns.
