Israeli Nova survivor found dead after plea

Roei Shalev, a 30-year-old survivor of the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack on the Nova music festival who witnessed his girlfriend’s murder, was found dead Friday evening near Tel Aviv. Hours earlier he posted that he wanted his suffering to end and asked for forgiveness. Friends and relatives searched after seeing the message; emergency services recovered his body, and police are investigating. Shalev’s mother died by suicide two weeks after the attack. Nova survivors mourned him as a pillar of their community. His death came three days after the attack’s two-year anniversary.
