Thieves disguised as construction workers staged a seven-minute heist at Paris’s Louvre on Sunday, smashing display cases in the Apollo Gallery and stealing at least nine pieces of jewelry linked to Emperor Napoleon and his wife, officials said. The suspects, believed to number at least three, entered via a broken window using a construction ladder, used small chainsaws, and fled on motorcycles. The museum was closed to preserve evidence as investigations began. A visitor described police unable to access locked doors and people inside banging on glass; no injuries were reported.
