Kyiv Restores Power as Allies Eye Assets

Power returned to more than 800,000 Kyiv residents Saturday after DTEK repaired damage from Friday’s “massive” Russian strikes that wounded at least 20 and triggered blackouts across much of Ukraine. Ukraine said its air defenses downed or jammed 54 of 78 drones overnight; Russia claimed it shot down 42 Ukrainian drones. Two people were killed in Kostiantynivka. European leaders signaled readiness to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine, in coordination with the United States. After a call with U.S. President Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged stronger air defenses and tougher sanctions.
