Los Angeles police declared an unlawful assembly Saturday evening outside the Metropolitan Detention Center, where “No Kings Day” demonstrators gathered after daytime rallies. Officers issued a 6:55 p.m. dispersal order around Alameda and Aliso, then advanced on the crowd, firing multiple nonlethal rounds, deploying tear gas and bringing in horses to push protesters back. The protests criticized President Trump’s policies on transgender rights, foreign policy, the shutdown, university funding and deportation raids. By 8:30 p.m., most protesters had left the area; by 9 p.m., LAPD reported no arrests.
