Israel's military prosecutor resigns after leaking video of detainee assault

Israel’s top military prosecutor, Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, resigned after admitting she leaked a video of soldiers assaulting a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention center. The footage, aired last year by Channel 12 and said to show sodomy, surfaced amid an army probe that had led to arrests and sparked a violent protest by ultranationalists. In her letter, she said she acted to counter claims the military favored detainees over troops. Defense Minister Israel Katz condemned her and said she would not be reinstated.
