George Santos' prison sentence commuted, ex-GOP congressman to be released 'immediately': Trump

President Donald Trump said Friday he signed a commutation releasing former congressman George Santos from prison immediately. Santos, 37, was less than three months into an 87‑month sentence for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Trump, calling him a 'rogue,' cited claims of solitary confinement and 'horrible' mistreatment. A clemency grant posted by the U.S. Pardon Attorney said his entire sentence was commuted to time served. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York had no comment. The move followed Santos’ prison plea to Trump and public support from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
