Two federal prosecutors in Washington, Carlos Valdivia and Samuel White, were placed on leave hours after filing a memo calling the Jan. 6 attack a 'mob of rioters' and seeking 27 months for Taylor Taranto, a person familiar said. Prosecutors wrote Taranto was pardoned by Trump for Jan. 6 charges and later arrested near Barack Obama’s home in 2023; he was later convicted on gun offenses and a false bomb-threat count. The suspensions come amid other shake-ups, including the firing of Michael Ben’Ary, the resignation of Erik Siebert, and the dismissal of Beth Yusi. DOJ did not comment.
