The Senate voted 50–46 to approve a resolution blocking President Trump’s tariffs on Canada, with Republicans Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul joining Democrats. The largely symbolic move, coming a day after a similar rebuke on Brazil, would end the national emergency underpinning tariffs on some Canadian goods but is unlikely to advance in the GOP-led House. Amid months of trade tension, Trump raised tariffs to 35% in August and vowed another 10% after an Ontario ad quoting Ronald Reagan. Sen. Tim Kaine forced the vote, disputing the fentanyl-based emergency.
