Curtis Sliwa rejects calls for him to withdraw from New York City mayor race

Republican New York City mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa refused on Tuesday to quit the race, saying he was offered money to drop out and now has armed security after threats against “Nancy and myself.” Outside a Manhattan subway station, he accused Andrew Cuomo, an independent candidate, of counting on his exit rather than campaigning, and called Cuomo and Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani “two peas in a pod.” Billionaire John Catsimatidis urged Sliwa to withdraw to avoid splitting the vote. Sliwa, currently on leave from WABC Radio, rejected the pressure as Mamdani quipped about billionaire influence.
