Satellite images released Thursday show demolition at the White House as President Donald Trump's $300 million ballroom project advances: the East Wing appears leveled and at least six trees removed, including magnolias commemorating Presidents Warren G. Harding and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Preparations began more than three weeks ago, according to the images. Former officials say the work proceeded without consulting the preservation commission and before plans were submitted to the National Capital Planning Commission. The White House did not comment. Trump previously said the ballroom would not interfere with the East Wing and marveled at a lack of approvals.
