Prosecutors Put on Leave After Jan. 6 Memo

Sources told ABC News that prosecutors Carlos Valdivia and Samuel White were locked out of devices and told Wednesday they’ll be placed on leave, hours after filing a sentencing memo that described the Jan. 6 attack as a mob of thousands of rioters. The pair, furloughed during the shutdown, were told they’ll go on administrative leave afterward. Their filing concerns Taylor Taranto, pardoned by President Donald Trump over Jan. 6 involvement but separately convicted on firearms and threat charges tied to a 2023 arrest near Barack Obama’s home. Justice Department didn’t immediately respond; Taranto’s sentencing is set for Thursday.
