Four people were killed and a dozen injured when gunfire erupted at a post-homecoming gathering in downtown Leland, Miss., a small town of about 3,700, the mayor said. The annual event followed the local high school football game and drew families and visitors. In all, 16 people were shot; four were transported to medical centers, and two were airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, which declined to share conditions. Police offered no comment amid an active investigation. No suspect was in custody, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said it is assisting.
