North Carolina Man Confesses; Four Children in Trunk

Late Monday, Wellington Delano Dickens III, 38, of Zebulon, N.C., called 911 and admitted killing four children, authorities said. Deputies found decomposing remains in a vehicle trunk in his garage; a 3-year-old son was unharmed. The victims were his children ages 6, 9 and 10, and an 18-year-old stepchild, the sheriff’s office said. Dickens was charged with one count of murder, with more charges expected; a warrant says one child was killed May 1. He is held without bond after a Tuesday court appearance. Court filings note his wife died in April and that they had five children.
