Florida executed Norman Mearle Grim Jr., 65, on Tuesday for the 1998 rape and murder of his neighbor, Cynthia Campbell, marking the state’s 15th execution this year, the most in the nation. Grim died by lethal injection at 6:14 p.m. after waiving appeals. Campbell’s body was found near the Pensacola Bay Bridge with blunt-force injuries and stab wounds; evidence tied Grim to the crime. He declined visitors and ate a final meal. Two more Florida executions are set for November; the previous yearly state high was eight in 2014.
