How New York City’s mafia allegedly ran illegal poker games tied to major NBA figures and US athletes

Authorities announced 31 arrests Thursday in 'Operation Royal Flush,' alleging a mob-linked ring rigged underground poker with X‑ray tables, hidden cameras and altered shufflers. Charged are Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and ex-NBA player Damon Jones; Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier was named in a separate indictment alleging misuse of nonpublic game information, claims his attorney disputes. Prosecutors say more than $7 million was taken, with threats and assaults used to collect debts. Four New York Mafia families allegedly backed games tied to Bonanno and Gambino crews.
