French prosecutors charged a Chinese-born woman over the theft of six gold nuggets worth about €1.5m from Paris’s Museum of Natural History, after Spanish police arrested her in Barcelona with about a kilo of melted gold. The pre-dawn break-in hit the mineralogy gallery while alarms and surveillance were disabled by a cyberattack; an angle-grinder and blowtorch were found. Officials say an experienced team exploited a missed security flaw. The 30 September arrest came amid recent museum robberies, days after a separate Louvre raid that stole crown jewels.
