Trump touts short-term deal with China after Xi meeting

In South Korea, President Donald Trump hailed an "amazing" 1 hour, 45 minute meeting with China's Xi Jinping, saying they struck a one-year deal to cut some U.S. tariffs and pause China's rare-earth export restrictions. Trump said fentanyl-related tariffs drop from 20% to 10%, total duties from 57% to 47%, and that Beijing will quickly buy U.S. soybeans, sorghum and other farm goods, explore chip purchases, and begin buying American energy. Taiwan and TikTok were not resolved. Beijing vowed implementation, the leaders planned reciprocal visits, and they discussed working together to help end Russia's war in Ukraine.
